A Tuscan Villa in the Heart of Upper East Side

The new owner of two adjoining pre-war cooperative apartments wanted to combine them and decorate it all in Tuscan country style. PGA's first step was to develop a floor plan that met the needs of this divorced father and his two visiting teenage daughters. The one bedroom apartment became the master bedroom suite: it included a library/office, walk-in closet, gym, bedroom and bathroom with a walk-in steam shower.

The existing living room was preserved when the apartments were joined and the two bedrooms in the second apartment were retained, while the foyer and kitchen were enlarged.

PGA installed custom cabinetry, a central island with seating, a full pantry and desk area in the kitchen. A Pompeian fresco was painted as the back splash to the Viking 6-burner range. The second living room became a dining area that opens onto the original living room.

Faux finishes were used throughout the new apartment to create a Tuscan ambiance. And a complete wireless tele/data communications system was installed, along with a surround-sound audio system. A 50" flat-screen monitor was built above a faux fireplace
